How Often Should You Descale Your Hot Water Dispenser?

This completely depends on how frequently you use your appliance. If you use it regularly and you have a hard water supply in your area, then you probably need to descale it more often. Ideally, it is advisable that you descale your water dispenser at least once every few months.

The descaling process is easy; you can do it at your home within a few minutes. Before you know it, your machine is up and running again without any issues.

Effects Of Limescale On A Hot Water Dispenser

The main effect of limescale on hot water dispensers is internal damage. Although limescale is not harmful to ingest, too much of it can damage the internal components of your appliance. It will lead to some of the chemicals in them being mixed with your drinking water. This could pose a threat to your health. You wouldn’t want to get poisoned because of the chemicals from a damaged dispenser.

Also, the presence of limescale can reduce the efficiency of your hot water dispenser. This is mainly because the limescale sticks to the components and makes it difficult for the dispenser to heat the water. In this case, your dispenser is struggling. As a result, it will consume more energy to heat up the same amount of water. Eventually, you end up using more electricity leading to an increase in your energy bill.
